Idroscalo Park

The Idroscalo is a nature reserve and a park where to spend leisure time and sports. A family park to live in compliance with the green and of those who benefit.

Idroscalo is October inaugurated on the 28th 1930 , three years after the first announcement of the project by the Commissioner of the Provincial Council. It is the Airport seaplanes , although the aviation activity arena after a few sporadic incidents. 
The Idroscalo is a reservoir fed by waters spring and those which come from Martesana .

It starts out in time the spontaneous use of Idroscalo as a meeting place, and at the end of the thirties the basin becomes "The sea of Milan" .

From the thirties also it established itself as an ideal venue for events sports of national importance, but not all.

Among the sportsmen attending Idroscalo, the sportsmen , in particular, find themselves in this clean basin and shallow an ideal race course, so much so that in 1934 organizes the National Championships of Rowing and 1938 European Championships and 2003, for first time the World Championships. 

To date in 1938 the first steps on the green around the pond, then expanded with the great reforestation carried out in 1957 and 1958. Born the park Idroscalo.

In 1960 the Idroscalo enters the collective and in film history: along its banks, in fact, is the setting for the most famous sequence in the film "Rocco and His Brothers" , the masterpiece of the famous director Luchino Visconti.

Since the nineties, the Idroscalo park is the consolidated summer meeting place in Milan and surroundings.

In 2008 marks the 70th anniversary dell'Idroscalo, now definitely established itself as the place of meeting , entertainment and activities sports clubs , embellished and completed in the offer to the public of numerous international events: sporting, cultural, entertainment and spectacle.

2010 the new challenge: the seaplane base is recognized by the institutions according to the website of ' EXPO 2015 - after Rho Fair - and embarks on a path that is based on principles of sustainability, quality, safety, well-being. 

It is not yet history, is the Idroscalo that we can live today!
